Rails for Ore is used in a concession in a Mine.
It allows you to prospect (mine) the Ore or Nuggets available in the region you are in while providing part of your Prospection skill.
The better the quality of Rails the higher % likelihood of finding the Ore or Nuggets.
Different regions give you access to different Ores and Nuggets.
Not all regions contain Ore or Nuggets.
Also, when a place to sleep such as a hut is also built at the same concession (or a tent for T1 companions), you can set companions to automatically prospect Ore or Nuggets at 1/3 third the speed for a small upkeep cost.
